REBUILDING A WAR-TORN COMMUNITY
Liberia endured a bloody civil war through the 1990's and 2000's, which claimed hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. Once peace was restored to Liberia in 2005, the country was left with its entire infrastructure in ruins—its utilities and public services, its schools and universities, its hospitals and clinics, its economy, and even its culture. LEAP has a vision to overcome the lingering effects of Liberia’s civil war to help Liberia become self-sustaining with an overflow that pours into the surrounding African nations.
The Leadership & Education for Africa Project (LEAP) is committed to supporting leaders to rebuild Liberia through efforts in education, health, agriculture, and business development. Our mission is to partner with men and women of character in Liberia, providing the tools and resources needed for them to serve the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the people of Liberia.

THREE PRIMARY AREAS OF FOCUS:
EDUCATION
In 2005, David Fatorma, a civil war victim and survivor, founded Light Stream Academy in order to educate some of Liberia’s poorest children and war orphans who would otherwise be unable to afford an education. LEAP supplies nearly 100% of the support for the Light Stream Academy in Monrovia, Liberia.
HEALTHCARE
Liberia’s decimated post-war healthcare system has yielded one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world. Most Liberians do not have access to even the most basic medical treatment. LEAP supports several crucial efforts aimed to remedy this.
AGRICULTURE
Agriculture is often the first rung on the ladder to developing a self-sustaining people. LEAP has recently purchased land and has linked with individuals with the expertise to develop agriculture projects, which will feed surrounding communities, create vital career skills, and economic opportunities in the market sales of produce.
